An iron rod at the construction site of Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor tilted towards the ground on Thursday while the construction work was going on at Linking Road in Malad.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which is executing the Metro-2A construction work for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), said the iron rods tilted within the barricade of the rail construction site, and there were no injuries.

A DMRC official said, “The incident was a minor one, and we will not levy a fine from the contractor for the mishap. But an inquiry will conducted at a lower level to ascertain responsibility for the lapse.”

In the past, there have been a couple of incidents of iron rods titling towards the ground at the construction site of Andheri East-Dahisar East Metro-7 corridor on Western Express Highway.

More than half the civil construction work on Metro-2A is complete. The corridor, expected to be operational by 2020, will be interconnected with Dahisar-Andheri East Metro-7 and DN Nagar-BKC-Mandale Metro-2B corridors.
