On Wednesday, the Congress leader had called BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi impotent. Around 100 BJP members gathered at Shivaji Chowk and started shouting slogans against Khurshid.

They sat on the middle of the road, blocking traffic for almost an hour. The police reached the spot within 25 minutes and detained few party members to avoid any untoward incident. "Narendra Modi is a leader and using such words against our leader is not appropriate. We wanted to show our discomfort towards the statement made by the senior Congress leader and so staged a rasta roko," says Narendra Pawar, district president, BJP.

Senior citizen and a resident, Ramesh Gaikwad, said, "Every week there are some or the other party protesting over some issues. We, residents, have to bear the brunt. This being one of the major junctions in Kalyan, even a few minutes delay causes traffic jams. So this is the common spot for many political parties to stage protests."
