Inquiry ordered into tribal student’s suicide in Mumbai

Vasai district collector Abhasaheb Jarhad on Friday ordered an inquiry into the suicide of tribal student Shailesh Surunda. Surunda allegedly committed suicide after being unable to get his caste certificate from the local sub-divisional officer for more than three months. Jarhad has appointed additional district collector Kailash Jadhav to look into the reasons behind the delay, said local MLA Vivek Pandit. Meanwhile, Madhukarrao Pichad, the state’s NCP President, wrote a letter to the CM, demanding action against the erring officer.
