The brutal killing of 14 members of a family in Thane was seen trending on Facebook and various other social networking sites. It should be noted that Thane has been on the trend list for the first time on such big platforms, but for all the wrong reasons.

Lakhs of people in India and across the globe expressed their opinions regarding the cold blooded murder of the Warekar family. Twitter and other social networking sites witnessed people expressing shock over the incident as they cursed Hasnain for killing seven kids, including infants.
"After Sheena Bora murder case which was widely covered by all media houses it's Thane massacre which has made its presence felt on Facebook and Twitter. It started trending with lakhs of people commenting, sharing and posting videos of the carnage," said Vinay Vare, online content observer and programmer.
He added: "The videos and pictures are being widely circulated over the internet as various news agencies continuously shared and tweeted the content of the massacre which was widely discussed since the incident took place."
Thane was trending on second number after Academy awards followed by Rahul Gandhi on charges of sedition followed by Leonardo DiCaprio, Union Budget 2016 and the FAN trailer launch starring Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
