If it is RP bullet, it is Pujari’s gang

There are different methods by which city investigators identify a particular gang and its methods. They have now arrived at a unique way of tracing the handiwork of the Ravi Pujari gang. They call it the ‘RP bullet’ or the ‘Ravi Pujari bullet’.

What the cops are planning is to identify the gang by the bullets it uses. They reveal that in almost all cases where the gang members have used guns, their bullets have been between .22 to .33mm bores. “This range of bores is typical to the Ravi Pujari gang,” says a police officer, who is part of the special squad formed to curb the activities of the gang.

Interestingly, however, the gang members have been trying to hide this very fact. The official explains how the gang has been trying to fool investigators by having a fake imprint of 7.65mm bores on the bullets. “Forensic tests have revealed the bullets’ bores to be of a lower denominator, between .22 to .33mm. Initially, we were very surprised on learning about the fake imprints,” added the official.

What brought the Ravi Pujari gang in the radar of the police top brass was the four gun-firings executed by its members within a span of three months. All the attacks were on builders from the western suburbs. Many more victims have also contacted the police. They have reportedly received threats and extortion demands from Pujari himself.

According to officials, the reason why the Pujari gang uses this kind of bullet is because it serves the purpose of causing fear in people, while not necessarily harming them. Not only has the gang been known to not fire on the target, the bullets often don’t even hit the target, even when aimed properly. This is because the bullets are apparently of such poor quality that they often deviate.

“These bullets serve the purpose of just creating fear and panic,”
additional commissioner of police (West region) Amitabh Gupta says. Another reason for using such bullets is that they are cheaper than the cartridges of higher bores.
