Speaking to DNA, Kshitij blamed the media for blowing the matter out of proportion. “I didn’t meet Raj Thackeray and was in Virar the whole day. We have very good relations with the Thackeray family and can meet them whenever we want.”

When asked about the rumours in his Nallasopara constituency about his decision to step down from the post of MLA, he said, “I have not thought about it yet and will decide later. I will consult with my dad and only then comment.”

Thakur added that media reports were completely false, biased and baseless. He claimed that the incident had affected his morale and hence, he had stopped giving media interviews.

Kshitij had to apprently switch off his phone after the incident as he was inundated with several thousand calls and messages supporting him. A source close to Thakur said, “He will start responding to calls and text as soon as the issue gets cleared.”
