The Vile Parle district court asked the housing society and the members to pay fine of Rs1 lakh 18 thousands.

Prashant Trivedi, a resident of the same housing society had filled a complaint about his neighbour Bhanumati Shah. Shah lived on the floor above Trivedi.

In his complaint Trivedi had stated that water was leaking from Shah’s apartment into his, he had asked his neighbour to repair the leak. But she did not comply with his requests.

Trivedi then took it further by complaining to the secretary of the housing society, Manoj Mota, but he did not do anything about it. He then complained to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

After Trivedi’s complaint BMC slapped a notice on the housing society, Mota and Shah under section 381 of the BMC act. The society and the members again did not take it seriously and did nothing about the complaint.

Then the BMC approached to the district court. The court noticed that the members and the Society are not doing anything about issue.

After hearing both side the court slapped a fine of Rs39,500 to each of the accused— the housing society, the secretary and Bhanumati Shah.
