High voltage supply destroys appliances in Chinchwad

Residents of Bijlinagar in Chinchwad had to suffer huge losses on Christmas day  when many electrical appliances were burnt due to the high voltage supply by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).

About 100 houses suffered damage with household electrical and electronic appliances worth lakhs of rupees burnt and damaged.

At about 2.30 pm, there was a sudden surge of high voltage and electrical appliances in the homes of residents of Shivnagari Society were burnt.

Television sets, refrigerators, home theatre systems, personal computers and other appliances were destroyed.

The residents have demanded that the MSEDCL reimburse the damages as early as possible. The  consumers are  living in fear as such incidences are increasing and MSEDCL is turning a blind eye to their repeated complaints.

Local residents Raghunath Wagh, Yashwant Mahadik, Pinakghar Takawale, Nimba Bhosale and SP Pathade appealed to the MSEDCL that it should reimburse the losses suffered by its consumers.

The appeal was handed to junior engineer Ghodke of MSEDCL and also pointed out that there would be a huge protest if there was no action in 10 days.
