AICC in charge Mohan Prakash along with the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president held a meeting with the aspirants, wherein MLA from Wani constituency Wamanrao Kasavar was asked about his intentions of contesting the Chandrapur constituency.

The central leadership is worried over the development and has told the leaders that it cannot afford infighting this time. The party has estimated that it would lose several seats, which it had won last time.

The Congress has almost given up the Pune LS seat. This seat is held by Suresh Kalmadi, who is embroiled in the Common Wealth Games scam. If the party ignores Kalmadi's claim, he is expected to create trouble. However, party leaders are not hopeful of Pune, even if Kalmadi is allotted the seat.
