MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Thursday quashed the sanction given by Joint Commissioner of Police Meera Borwankar to apply the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in an extortion case.

The court quashed two first information reports lodged in this regard by the Mumbai police.

The order has been stayed for six weeks to enable the state government to file an appeal in the Supreme Court.
