Harbour Line services hit a snag during Mumbai rush hour; commuters stranded
Services were hit from Wadala Road to Mumbai CST
Mumbai’s Harbour Line service that connect the city to the satellite town of Navi Mumbai were affected on Thursday morning after a overhead equipment cable the device that supplies power to the train snapped at Sewri at around 7 am.
As a result, services between Wadala Road and Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus were affected, thereby causing chaos during morning rush hour.
A CR spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying that it took place between Sewri and Wadala Road on the Down line
However, Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO, Central Railway said: "The trains between Wadala Road and Andheri and Wadala Road and Panvel are running normally."
Passengers had to bear the brunt of the incident. One commuter, R Haware, a Belapur resident said that trains had been stuck for over half an hour between Govandi and Mankhurd
Services were restored at around 8.55. Meanwhile, to counter the rising crowd BEST plied extra buses from Wadala Road.
Meanwhile Central Railway issued a statement saying that those travelling using Harbour Line tickets could travel from Kurla to CSTM and back on the main line until Harbour Line services were restored.
