Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai landed in Mumbai on Friday on a four-day state visit during which he will be signing four pacts with India, and will also meet business leaders in Mumbai seeking greater private sector support for nation building in the war-ravaged country.
Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai landed in Mumbai on Friday on a four-day state visit during which he will be signing four pacts with India, and will also meet business leaders in Mumbai seeking greater private sector support for nation building in the war-ravaged country.
Karzai will be holding delegation-level talks with prime minister Manmohan Singh on Monday in New Delhi following which the two sides are likely to sign pacts in areas of mines, youth affairs, small development projects and fertilisers.
“Apart from reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, the two leaders will also discuss regional and international issues,” additional secretary (Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran), Yash Sinha said at a press briefing. He said both leaders will review and consolidate their strategic partnership. Last year the two sides had signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement which facilitates training of Afghan National Security Forces by India.
