Govt-sponsored murder, hints Raj Thackeray

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday pointed fingers at the state government for the lack of a breakthrough in the killing of anti-superstition crusader Narendra Dabholkar. Speaking to media persons, Thackeray alleged that Dabholkar’s killing could be a state-sponsored one.

“As there has been no breakthrough in the murder case of Narendra Dabholkar, the needle of suspicion is pointing towards the state government, that the murder was state-sponsored,” said Thackeray after meeting Mukta, Dabholkar’s daughter, at his residence on Thursday.

He also wondered why the state government wasn’t being questioned over the delay in making arrests.

Thackeray said, “Had the government cleared misconceptions about the anti-superstition bill earlier, Dabholkar’s murder could have been prevented.”

On the demand for handing over the investigation to the CBI, he said, “It has become a kind of fashion to transfer investigations to CBI. Then, what’s the need of the local police?” he asked.

Thackeray also unveiled a booklet on the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Bill, which was recently issued as an ordinance by the state.
