The bureaucracy seems to be ready for the change of guards in the state. Soon after a telephonic conversation with Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state unit president and front runner for the post of chief minister, the government machinery swung into action and restored electricity supply at the historic Raigad fort within 24 hours.

Fadnavis, even before being sworn in as the chief minister, had called up a senior government official about the issue of power supply at Raigad fort. Fadnavis, after talking to the official, has twitted on Sunday morning that he spoke to the bureaucrat and power supply at the fort would be restored by Monday.

Interestingly, governor C Vidyasagar Rao had also intervened in this matter. According to a press release issued by Raj Bhavan Public Relations Officer Umesh Kashikar, it was after the governor's intervention that the electricity supply at Raigad fort was restored.

The governor had taken a strong exception to the issue of disconnecting power supply to the historic Raigad fort where the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took place. The electricity supply was disconnected reportedly for non-payment of power bills.

According to the Raj Bhavan press release, after the governor's intervention, the district collector instructed the power supply utility Maharashtra state electricity distribution company limited (MSEDCL) to restore the supply immediately. The supply of power has been restored from Monday morning. The district collector has also been advised to ensure payment of the power dues of the fort well in time to avoid recurrence of such embarrassing situations in future.
