According to sources in the department, "PB Malik, who is currently President of Industrial courts of Maharashtra, will soon join in as Principal. The order has been issued on Wednesday."

Joint Director of Higher education, Dr Manjusha Molwane, who has been holding the Principal's post as additional charge, says, "I am a relieved person now. In the last three months, I had written to the department thrice to take back the acting Principal's charge as it was affecting my performance as joint director."

A professor of GLC however, says, "There was no advertising for the post. How can government appoint a person on its own? Moreover, if a person from labour court or industrial court, how can he help the college? A principal must be an academician."

Minister Rajesh Tope could not be contacted. His PA Thorat says, "Mr Malik is joining soon, but I don't have other details."
