Yesteryear's legendary film lyricist and poet Shailendra's son Dinesh Shailendra has alleged that his father's handwritten songs have been stolen by people who tried to forcefully evict him and his wife from a bungalow in Mira Road.

Dinesh also alleged that the Kashimira police, inspite of repeated requests, have not been able to get back the literary work of his father.

According to Dinesh, he and his wife had taken a bungalow at Posh complex in Mira road on rent for a year in 2010. By 2011, when the agreement was about to expire, he expressed his desire to buy out the bungalow.

"The owner of the house, Sandra Fertado, had given him the power of attorney to one Rinku Patel and Bosco Fernandes and even when I took the bungalow on rent, they were the ones who executed the deal," said Dinesh.

"I expressed my desire to buy the bungalow, to which they agreed. I also told them that I won't be able to give them money in one go, as my bungalow in Khar is under litigation. Once that is cleared, I will make the the payment. Meanwhile, I made a part-payment through cash and through cheque," he said.

Dinesh stated that everything was fine between 2011 to 2013. In that period, he ended up paying around Rs 25 lakh to Patel and Fernandes. However, trouble started in December 2013 when some goons came to his house and threatened him to vacate the bungalow.

"They came and dragged me and my wife out of the house and locked the door stating that we were illegally staying in the bungalow. We approached the Kashimira police but they were of no help and told me I was illegally occupying someone's property", said Dinesh.

"My wife later met the superintendent of the police, who ensured an FIR is registered in the case. We also informed Patel and Fernandes we will vacate the house provided our money is returned to us", he said.

Things got ugly for Dinesh and his wife in February 2015 when around 30 men forcefully entered the bungalow and threatened them to evict from the place.

"They were armed with rods and bamboos. Me and my wife were told to sit in a corner while they shifted all my house stuff in a truck. Later they asked both of us to get inside the truck. Luckily for us, a passer-by saw the entire drama and called up the police control, which sent two constables to our aid", said Dinesh.

"When the constables came and took the accused to the police station, even I went with them. This time, the others in a truck with all our belongings," he said.

Dinesh said he was sad at the loss of valuable writings of his father, which were taken away by the accused. "All original work of my father which is of national importance was taken away by them," he said.

"The police are hand-in-gloves with the accused and have been shielding them for a long time," he said.

Anil Kadam, inspector at Kashimira police station, said: "We have registered a case of dacoity against 20 unknown people and have also arrested one person called Shankar Golekar in the case".
