MUMBAI
Early on Saturday, a 19-year-old girl attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train at Nalasopara station. She was saved by another commuter who jumped on to the tracks and pulled her to safety.
The Borivli resident wanted to commit suicide because her classmates teased her about her mother’s extra marital affair which caused her to be depressed. The girl was saved thanks to good Samaritan Rashid Shaikh, 41, an interior designer from Nalasopara who was at the station waiting for a train to Dadar.
Shaikh was able to call the girl’s mother, who picked her up and consoled her.
