'Get well soon' messages flood Anil Ambani

A couple of non-government organisations are spearheading a unique initiative to get the roads along the Metro One rail corridor repaired quickly.

The novelty is that these organisations are encouraging citizens to write about their problem on postcards addressed to Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Infrastructure which is constructing the Versova-Ghatkopar Metro rail system, and to UPS Madan, commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. And the  message on the postcards is  simple: “Get well soon”.

More than 1,500 postcards were written and signed last week by people residing in the areas through which the Metro rail route passes.

“Several complaints have been made orally and through correspondence to the civic body and the MMRDA, but no noticeable work has been done. It has become a nightmare to travel on the stretch,” said Nicholas Almeida of Watchdog Founation. Dolphy D’Souza of the Save Our Land group was also criticised Metro One for pressing for an increase in the fare even before the service had started. “This is absurb,” he said.
