The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city police on Wednesday launched a crackdown on quacks in the western suburbs. The police have arrested four quacks and booked them on charges of cheating.

According to joint commissioner of police, EOW, Dhananjay Kamlakar, eleven police teams were formed and officials from health department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Revenue Department were also roped in for the raids.

"During the raids, four bogus doctors were arrested and were booked on charges of cheating under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act. While three cases have been registered in Kurar police station, one case is registered in Dindoshi," said an officer.

The EOW would continue to conduct raids on bogus doctors all over the city, said Pravin Padwal, deputy commissioner of police, EOW.
