A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a his former girlfriend and later threatening to circulate the video clippings he had taken during their relationship. The accused had also allegedly posted a nude photo of the victim on a social networking website and tagged to the victim’s brother.
According to the police, Amol Chindha Rawte, a resident of sector 3 in Airoli, was having an affair with the victim for eight years. They got into a physical relationship with mutual consent. But after May 22, the victim got into a relationship with another man stopped interacting with Rawte.
“The accused tried to convince the woman to get back to him, but she kept refusing him,” said an official from the Rabale police station.
Rawte got frustrated with these repeated refusals and then started threatening the woman. He told her that he would circulate a video clipping he had taken during her relationship to everyone they had known.
“The accused also once forcefully sexually assaulted her,” the official added. After that incident, the woman stopped meeting Rawate and this upset him.
On September 16, Rawte sent a nude photograph to the victim’s brother through a social mobile chat application. So, the woman approached the police and registered a complaint with Rabale police, following which the police arrested Rawate.
