Mumbai BJP secretary Vivekanand Gupta on Friday registered an FIR against then chairman of Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd Pravin Darekar for embezzlement of Rs 123 crore. Darekar was earlier a member of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). But he switched sides to BJP after losing 2014 Maharashtra Assembly polls.

In the FIR, Gupta accuses bank of making risky investments in share markets, putting all regulations aside for investing Rs 110 crores in Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation which is already riddled with an alleged fraud of Rs 714 crores.

The FIR also alleges that there is a possibility that Mumbai Bank got a kickback for investing in MPSIDC.

Apart from Pravin Darekar, the FIR also names Shivaji Nalawade, Prakash Shirwadkar, and Raja Nalawade.
