The police in Mumbai today registered an FIR against the Dubai-based owners, captian and crew members of a cargo vessel that ran aground near Juhu beach in north-west Mumbai yesterday.

First pictures: MT Pavit runs aground at Juhu beach"An FIR under IPC section 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) was registered against the owner/s, captain and crew members of the vessel MT Pavit," said CG Naik, senior inspector at Yellow Gate police station.The unmanned Panama-flagged vessel, which has a capacity to hold 1,000 tonnes of cargo, ran aground near Seven Bungalows yesterday and was suspected to have drifted from the Persian Gulf, according to police.This was a second incident in the recent past as another merchant vessel MV Wisdom had got stuck off Juhu beach in June and could be salvaged after three weeks.According to the the Coast Guard, Pavit has ten tonnes of fuel and 'gas-oil' each. The ship's owners had believed that the ship had sunk some days ago.
