Failing to take cognisance of the last year’s FIR, the police did not grasp the fact that it made the organisers repeat offenders, thereby putting them in contempt of court.

“I am not sure of the previous year’s FIR status,” said Police Inspector Shirish Gaekwad.

“It’s a case of noise pollution against the organisers. With respect to the last year’s FIR, I do not have the details. I believe the court must have taken action,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Vineet Agarwal, Central region.

Last year, the FIR was lodged against Anil Parab and Milind Vaidya. A senior police inspector said, “This year, an FIR was lodged against MLA Arvind Parab, MLA Milind Vaidya, former Mumbai mayor and Divakar Borkar, secretary of Sena Bhavan under Section 15(1) of the Environment Protection Act amongst others.”

No arrests have been made yet this year, the police said.
