The Right To Information (RTI) application was filed by a Kurla resident Sagar Deore on December 30, 2016. The applicant had also asked the police to provide a date when the illegal loudspeakers would be removed.

However, the Mumbai Police have replied stating, "As it can create a law and order question, no action has been taken."

The applicant said: "We have filed RTIs in several areas of Mumbai regarding this issue, but this is the first reply we have got for the Kurla area. The only other verbal reply we received said that no action has been taken."

In 2014, the high court had ordered the police in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to remove all unauthorized loudspeakers on top of religious structures.
