"Kanojia was on the ventilator and critical. He passed away on Saturday due to Axonal injury (brain injury). His relatives were present at the hospital at the time," said Dr Avinash Supe, dean of KEM hospital where most of the patients were taken after the tragedy.

"He was unconscious since Friday and had a head injury," said Bablu Kanojia, Satyendra's younger brother. The Kanojias lived at Parksite in Vikhroli and worked as garment workers. Kanojia is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter who is three-years-old. The eldest son is 11-years-old.

"He worked at Atlantic Plaza in Dadar west. Since his office was closer to Parel station as compared to Dadar, he would get down here and walk," said Bablu. Kanojia was planning to visit his wife and children who live in his native place Jamalapur, Uttar Pradesh, during Diwali.
