According to civic activist Nikhil Desai, the ward has mentioned that two roads of Hindu colony, two roads of Parsi colony, Five Gardens area and the Lotlikar Marg would be freed of hawking zones following a point of order taken in the assembly by MLC Anant Gadgil and stiff opposition from residents.

"These are quiet areas and hawking there would completely destroy peace," said Desai, adding that the letter was issued by the ward on Friday afternoon after residents protested against hawkers. Desai, along with other residents has been constantly following up with the ward on the issue. "Lakhamsi Napoo Road at Hindu Colony and Mancherji Joshi Marg need to be cleared of hawking zones. On Mancherji Joshi Road, there is a girl's school.

Hawkers policy clearly states that no hawking zone should be allowed near schools," he added.

dna had earlier reported that Dadar residents are against the proposed hawking zones.
