After facing flak for their skywalks across the city, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) now has a request coming their way. Vile Parle MLA Krishna Hegde has written to the authority asking requesting them to extend the skywalk in Vile Parle (West) up to the SV Road junction.

Hegde recently visited the skywalk construction site after DNA had reported of irregular barricading done by authorities. The barricading posed a danger to the thousands of school and college students commuting daily on the Vile Parle (West) station road. After his visit, the alert MLA has now written to the MMRDA asking them to extend the skywalk right up to the SV Road junction so that it would help students to use the skywalk to reach the station.

“I will be very happy if the skywalk can be extended till Mithibai College on 1st Road of Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) Scheme so that almost 15,000 students of Mithibai College, Narsee Monjee College, NMIMS, and other education institutions as well as people coming from Cooper Hospital can use the skywalk on a daily basis,” Hegde has written in his letter to MMRDA metropolitan commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad. “The skywalk, if extended, can be most beneficial for everyone during the monsoon season.”
