Since the state assembly elections fall on October 15, due to which most teachers, principals and non-teaching staff will be on poll duty, the council is keen on extending the deadline.

Anil Bornare, president of the Shikshak Parishad (Mumbai division), said, "Most of the institutions will not be able to send the forms before October 13 because of their employees being called for election duty. Hence our MLC Ramnath Mote wrote a letter to the board to extend the deadline for filling forms."

However, G K Mhamane, chairman, Pune MSBSHSE, said, "So what if staff are on election duty? There is enough of time for schools and junior colleges to fill the form online and send it to us. We will see how many forms come to us by October 13, and then we will decide whether to extend the date."
