In a communication to DNA, the EC said: “The Commission’s attention has been drawn to a news report in DNA. The report is malicious and shocking as it seeks to cast aspersions on the Election Commission of India without the slightest basis.

“The Commission’s website has huge volumes of pages and the website is updated and improved from time to time.”

“It is neither feasible nor necessary for the three-member commission or for the CEC to monitor and approve each page of the website. The question of CEC approving a particular image design does not arise... Hence it is downright preposterous to reflect on the commission’s neutrality because of a perceived resemblance of one of the images with the symbol of a political party.

“The Commission, it is high sensitiveness to public perception, has already removed the said image from the website, while remaining fully convinced that the allegation in the news report is completely baseless,” the communication said.
