In an on-going drive by the Mumbai traffic police against drunken driving, the traffic police on Tuesday arrested 55 drivers across Mumbai.

Among these 55 drivers, 37 were riding two-wheelers and 15 were drivers of private cars, two were auto-rickshaw drivers and one was a taxi driver, said a police officer of Traffic Police headquarters at Worli. He added that a total of 292 motorists have been arrested in drunken driving cases in the past four days in the drive that began on April 1.Soon after the fatal accident on Saturday in Juhu, where an 18-year-old girl was killed and five of her friends and an auto rickshaw driver were injured, the Mumbai Traffic police intensified its drive from to control fatal accidents due to the drunken driving.
