Two days after columnist, Shobhaa De wrote about Eman Ahmed in a tabloid, Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, bariatric surgeon at Saifee Hospital has hit back at her. In her column, De criticised Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, calling him a "media-savvy" and "photogenic" who has now washed his hands off Eman.

De went on to say that the "articulate, good looking surgeon gave umpteen interviews."

Now, Dr Bhasker who is one of the key doctors in the team treating Eman has hit back at De with a scathing Facebook post. "Forgive my ignorance but I had to Google you to know your area of literary specialisation. I was mighty impressed that you have a wikipedia page dedicated to yourself and it describes you as a writer who is best known for her depiction of 'socialites and sex' in her works of fiction," Bhasker wrote.

Defending their decision to treat Eman, she wrote, "There is enough literature to prove that bariatric surgery is the only proven way to achieve sustainable weight loss and improvement in associated co-morbidities."

About the spat with Eman's sister, Shaimaa Selim who has accused the doctors of lying to her, Bhasker said, "We took up a humanitarian cause, went all out to overcome challenges never undertaken before and put in our best effort. We made only one mistake. We made the mistake of undertaking this huge task 'pro bono'."

Earlier, Shobha De had fat shamed MP cop Daulatram Jogawat who Dr Ladkawala then operated upon, helping him lose weight. Read Dr Bhasker's Facebook post here:
