DNA is tracking BMC’s preparedness for the rains by inspecting de-silting and roadwork in crucial areas with the help of local activists.

History may repeat itself at Gandhi Nagar junction in Kanjurmarg and the area outside Dreams Mall in Bhandup, which had more than five feet of water last year. Deputy municipal commissioner Ranjit Dhakane said that de-silting of gutters and nullahs in Ghatkopar and Bhandup is 15 to 20 per cent behind schedule.  

NCP’s ex MP Sanjay Dina Patil says there is lack of co-ordination between the Railways and the BMC to clean the culverts in Railway premises which leads to flooding outside Vidyavihar and Ghatkopar station.
