On Tuesday, the notification was removed after DNA published an article on the same. DNA had reported about the notification which read: "It is necessary to bring your Aadhaar card to the police station in order to register a complaint."

Despite there being no government notification for the same, the notification was pasted on the wall since January this year.

Datttatray Shinde, Senior Inspector, Mankhurd police station, said, "The senior police officers in the department have taken cognisance in this regard and we were told to immediately remove the notification which was posted on the wall."

"It was a misunderstanding among the junior police officers but we have never refused to file a complaint if the person does not have an Aadhaar card. We have also informed the policemen to not demand Aadhaar card from the complainant," said Shinde.

The senior police officers in the Mumbai Police department were baffled to know the rule of Mankhurd police.
