In a commendable feat, the students of aero-modelling and electric solar car teams of DJ Sanghvi College are winning accolades for the institute at the international level.

DJS Skylark won the first prize in the Asia Pacific region in the SAE Aero Design East 2018, which was a three-day competition held over March 9, 10, and 11, at Florida Air Museum. Another team from the institute, DJS Helios, was declared the winner of the Indo Asian Solar Challenge, 2018, at Satna (Madhya Pradesh).

Students from the Skylark team said that the competition taught them technical and management skills. "It was a matter of immense pride to be able to represent the nation at an international platform at the SAE Aerodesign competition and gain the first position among all the Asia-Pacific teams," added Mihir Kansara, who led the team.

DJS Helios, which outperformed everyone in the Electric Solar Vehicle Championship, 2018, at Bhimavaram (Andhra Pradesh), now aims to build a world-class solar car that is highly efficient and worthy of participating in international competitions like the World Solar Challenge. "It was a very long journey and a lot of hard work and time went into completing the project. In the end, it was a very successful season, as we not only won both the competitions, but our car Merlin dominated each and every round in those competitions," said Pranay Shah leader of DJS Helios.

Dr Hari Vasudevan, Principal, DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering, said, "Our students have been extremely successful through the current academic year, with both the teams winning a number of prizes in mega events. We are very happy with the performance of the students and the faculty coordinators and wish them all success in future, too."
