Disaster mitigation project with World Bank aid

The state government would establish a disaster mitigation infrastructure for cyclone with aid from the World Bank. Seventy-five per cent of Rs398-crore for the project would be funded by the World Bank as loan in the form of grant. This would be part of the national cyclone disaster mitigation project.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis informed media persons that the state Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for the project which would be run in the coastal districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Palhghar and Mumbai. In addition to installation of the early warning systems, projects for cyclone-proof housing within five kms from the coastline would be undertaken. He informed that the cyclone arresting structures would also be constructed in these areas.

Desaiganj (Wadsa)-Gadchiroli railway
The cabinet gave nod for Rs234.64 crore as the state's contribution for the Desaiganj (Wadsa)-Gadchiroli railway route. Fadnavis said this work would be completed in five years. The project would cost Rs469 crore. Fadnavis informed that there are 7-8 railway routes which can add to the rail network in the remote parts of the state and the government would take up all these works soon. He informed that the government would give similar sanction for the long-pending Wardha-Yavatmal-Nanded railway link in the next 15 days.

699 Class IV workers permanent
The CM informed that the state cabinet decided to give sanction for permanent employment to 699 Class IV employees working at various government medical colleges and government hospitals. He said that this decision would pave way for filling up the remaining vacancies. These 699 employees were working for over two decades and demanding for permanent employment.
