Devendra Fadnavis announces plethora of schemes for Marathwada

Fadnavis addressed the media for almost 45 minutes soon after the special cabinet meeting at Aurangabad on Tuesday. In his brief, there were many announcements which are based on decisions that were already taken.

While trying to fill up backlog of development for the Marathwada region, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ensured that alliance partner Shiv Sena as well as regional leaders from Marathwada are also addressed while announcing the sops for Marathwada.

Fadnavis addressed the media for almost 45 minutes soon after the special cabinet meeting at Aurangabad on Tuesday. In his brief, there were many announcements which are based on decisions that were already taken.

The long-pending Ahmednagar-Beed-Parali railway line (Rs2,826 crore as announced today) was taken up for discussion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi more than 6 months back. It was announced by Fadnavis as if it is being done for the first time.

Fadnavis announced that his Cabinet has decided to set up a Balasaheb Thackeray memorial (Rs10 crore) in Aurangabad since late Balasaheb had special love for this city. He also announced to set up Late Gopinath Munde institute for Rural Development (Rs279 crore) within the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, first LIGO lab outside US at Hingoli for creating observatory for Gravitational-Waves (state to provide 100 acres of land), seed-park (Rs109 crore) and silk-market at Jalna, upgradation of Jalna and Latur polytechnics into engineering colleges, Institute of Chemical Technology sub-centre (200 acres and Rs325 crore) at Siraswadi in Jalna, upgradation of Osmanabad museum, upgradation of Cancer centre in Aurangabad are aimed at distributing the share of benefits to various leaders including those from Shiv Sena and within his party. He said that the Jalna seed park would raise the turn over in seed business in Jalna to Rs6,000 crore from present Rs3,000 crore and would provide employment to additional 20 thousand persons.

The overall region of Marathwada would get green battalion, which will undertake aforestation on 200 hectares in Marathwada every year and it would provide employment to 40 thousand ex-army men of Marathwada. The water conservation commissionerate would be established at Aurangabad. For Marathwada, one lakh houses will be build under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, said Fadnavis. He said that the divisional commissioner's office will have administrative building with all 25 offices under one roof and Cabinet has sanctioned Rs40 crore for the same in today's meeting.

Fadnavis said that for helping out Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, which is not financially sound, the state Government will provide with Rs500 crore instead of Rs250 crore in smart city project. He said that no state government in the country has taken responsibility of civic body by paying Rs250 crore for making city smart. He said that HP company would be going for chipping in with Rs600 crore MoU under Information Communication Technology-related projects for Aurangabad.
