The Borivili plot is estimated at Rs11 crore

The Borivili police on Wednesday arrested Jay Prakash Goel, a director of Geeta Constructions, for allegedly conniving with one Geeta Kadam to usurp a Rs11-crore land belonging to the Khadi and Village Industries Association (KVIA).

Deputy commissioner of police Makarand Ranade said, “Goel, who is a Pune-based developer, was aware of the forged nature of the documents Kadam had produced to show that the land was gifted to her by the KVIA. He executed an agreement giving him irrevocable development rights of the land from Kadam using the bogus document.” Goel has been remanded him to a day in police
custody.

As reported by DNA (July 31, 2007, edition), Kadam had managed to obtain an order granting her rights to an 8425.9 sq mtr plot of land located in Borivili from the suburban collector’s office, on the back of an alleged gift deed order sanctioned by the Charity Commisisoner’s office on July 16, 1982, which stated: “The donor is making a gift of the property in consideration of natual love and affection for Kadam.”

Police sub-inspector Rajendra Jadhav from the Borivili police station, where a criminal complaint (first information report no 250/07) of cheating and forgery was registered against Kadam by the KVIA on July 25, 2007, told DNA: “The director of Geeta Construction Jay Prakash Goel told the police that he has bought the plot of land from Kadam that is worth Rs11,11,17,500 for Rs one crore.”

Ranade added that Kadam had managed to secure an anticipatory bail order from the city civil court which would be challenged by the police.
