The ATS subsequently questioned the six youths from south Mumbai, but found that they did not have any criminal links and let them off, police sources said.

According to sources, during the interrogations of Abid Hussain and Amir Abbas, both held in connection with the September 7 blast for sending terror email, it was learnt that they were in touch with six boys in Mumbai.

The agency gave the names and details of these six boys from south Mumbai to the ATS and asked them to look into the matter. The Kalachowkie Unit of the ATS subsequently made inquiries.

“We managed to locate the youths and made inquiries with them. They told us that they had gone to Kashmir some time ago on a religious trip and had met the blast suspects there. As we did not find anything suspicious and they were let off,”  said an ATS official.

He added that, the initial suspicion was to check whether there was any sleeper module active in the city having links with the Kashmiri youths, but after the inquiries it was found that the boys had no criminal background.

Eleven people were killed in a powerful blast outside Delhi high court gate number 5 on September 7 morning.
