Parrikar was in Mumbai to commission the guided missile destroyer warship made at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited. INS Chennai is the last of the Project 15A, the first two being INS Kolkata and INS Kochi. The ship with a displacement of 7,500 tonnes is propelled by four gas turbines with a maximum speed of 30 knots.

While commissioning the destroyer, the Defence Minister said that standard procedures are being followed to get back soldier Chandu Babulal Chauhan. Chauhan, from 37 Rashtriya Rifles, had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in September.

"Standard procedures are being followed to get him back. Pakistan government has assured that he is alive and safe," informed Parrikar.
