On Sunday, the second part of the redevelopment conference, organised by DNA Property, will elaborate on the finer aspects of redevelopment. A session will be held at 9.30am at the NSE Grounds, Goregaon, and speakers from respective fields give lectures and then take questions on the same.

The event is organised along with Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association (MSWA), keeping in mind the fact that redevelopment is the only way to address all needs that a vibrant city needs. It will deal with crucial issues that stall most redevelopment projects initially, such as conveyance. The issue will be taken up by Ramesh Prabhu of MSWA.

Almost 80 per cent of the housing societies in the suburbs do not have conveyance deeds, which ends up stalling their plans. Prabhu will also speak on the other procedures involved in redevelopment.

Another issue that will be raised is the role of Mhada at the time of redevelopment. Congress MLA from Vile Parle and member of Mhada board (Mumbai), Krishna Hegde, will address the issue. New development control rules that affect most development projects will be taken up by Anil Darshatkar, former Mhada chief architect. Ashok Mohnani of Ekta World will speak on precautionary measures taken while going in for redevelopment.

Nayan Shah of Mayfair will speak on the overall development prospects, trends and scope of real estate in general. Policy changes that are now required for redevelopment will be addressed by Arvind Nandan, executive director-consultancy services, India Cushman & Wakefield. Other issues include key government directions on redevelopment that have guided most of the redevelopment, case studies on redevelopment benefits, precautions to be taken while purchasing a flat, quality control, role of structural engineer and other important issues like tax applicable on housing society redevelopment.

Societies can also look forward to discussions with developers like Rustomjee, Hiranandani, Kalpataru, S Raheja and Godrej who will put up their exhibitions to share their practical experiences and explore redevelopment opportunities.
