Plot for Dahisar-Charkop-DN Nagar Metro line car depot in Charkop is likely to be handed over soon to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as Manjara Charitable Trust of late politician Vilasrao Deshmukh has agreed to relocate to Gorai. As per MMRDA's plan, the depot will be spread over 19.5 hectares.

In all, the Trust has 26 educational institutes in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Latur district. As per the information available on its official website, currently, there isn't any educational facility available in Charkop where Metro car depot is proposed.

After the demise of former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, his son Amit became chairman of board for governance. "We even had a meeting with him wherein he was explained the importance of the project," said an MMRDA official. The estimated completion cost for this corridor is Rs6,410 crore, which is inclusive of 17 Metro stations, car depot, taxes and administrative cost among others.
