​A group of ​cycling ​enthusiasts, ​will be bringing smile​s​ ​to the faces of Mumbai police personnel keeping vigil during ​New ​Year day celebrations at Girgaon, Chowpatty, Marine Drive​, ​CST as well as Churchgate.

Sanket Subhedar who is the pioneer of ​'​Pedal for Joy​'​ told DNA that the​​ initiative ​was ​to thank â€‹the ​Mumbai police who are on duty throughout the night of ​​December ​31 ​every year. 

​The group ​comprises of ​​college​-​going youngsters ​and young professionals â€‹and ​ha​d earlier​ arranged ​the ​Girgaum Ganesh Darshan on cycle during ​the ​10-day Ganesh festival to promote cycling. Subhedar ​says that ​the team's ​volunteers would be reaching ​out ​to police constables deployed all along the Queen’s Necklace spread over ​the ​coastline between Girgaum Chowpatty and Nariman Point. He said that the volunteers would offer a ​'​cutting ​chai​'​ to ​policemen and ​female constables with a smile ​to thank ​them ​for ​doing ​​an ​important job.

Subhedar â€‹says that a team of 25 volunteers ​would be serving more than 500 cup​s​ of tea ​between 10 pm and 2 am on December 31 and January 1 ​so that the police personnel can also welcome the ​New ​Year with a ​'​Cup of Smile​'.​ Interested volunteers can contact Sanket Subhedar on 9892371961​.​
