56-year-old Croatian tourist Marcel Kopirivic who was admitted to the intensive care unit at state-run JJ Hospital died on February 20. Kopirivic who was found in a semi conscious condition with a severed leg by Roha police at Raigad was ferried to JJ Hospital on February 5 for treatment. After the accident, he had undergone an amputation in his left leg uptil the thigh to prevent infection to set in. After falling of the bed in the orthopaedic ward on February 14, Marcel lost consciousness and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). "Marcel breathed his last at close to 2 pm on February 20. We have sought the Croatian consulate's permission to conduct post mortem on the body," said a police official from JJ Marg Police station.
