Cops to get Powai rape victim's statement recorded next month

A day after the city crime branch registered an FIR in the case wherein a 28-year-old housewife had alleged that she was raped by a senior inspector and one more person, the crime branch sent her for medical examination at KEM hospital. The police will get the victim's statement recorded before the magistrate next month, sources said.

The FIR was registered against eight people, including senior inspector YL Jadhav of Powai police station and builder Niranjan Hiranandani. However, there is no allegation of sexual assault against Hiranandani in the FIR.

The victim has alleged that Hiranandani, with the intention to grab her property and that of others in her neighbourhood, sent his men on May 28 to the area where his men threatened and manhandled the residents.
She also alleged that on June 16, around 9am, Jadhav and Sanjay Sansare raped her.
