In a shocking incident involving a 19-year-old girl who was continously harassed by unknown persons after her mobile number was posted on social media sites, the Kashi Mira police asked the victim to change her number, instead of registering her complaint. They said the case was too tedious to handle.

The father of the victim then complained to Mahesh Patil, Superintendent of Police (Thane rural) via email, who intervened in the matter.

According to the complaint, the victim, a student of management studies, was allegedly being harassed by unknown persons since her number was shared on Facebook.

The woman claimed in the complaint that she had recently started receiving a barrage of calls from unknown people who would talk in a foul language and harass her.  “The response from the police was ridiculous. How can they speak like this? It is only when I elevated my complaint to the SP office that the police registered an FIR,” the father said.
