While on one hand, the Mumbai police have been making all efforts to keep a tab on suspicious elements in the city, some from the force are doing just the opposite. A constable working with the Special Branch II of the city police has been suspended for allegedly clearing immigration of three people illegally; the trio was on their way to Saudi Arabia.

The suspended constable has been identified as Sunil Randive.

According to the police, Randive was posted at the immigration at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. "On December 30, 2015, while Randive was on duty, he illegally cleared immigration of three people on their way to Saudi Arabia for job. He didn't do their Protector of Emigrants checking," said a senior police officer.

He added that when the incident came to the notice of the superiors, they immediately took action against Randive. "What he did was serious. Hence, as per the provisions of the Mumbai Police (Punishment and Appeals) Rules, he has been placed under suspension and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him. We are trying to find out whether Randive had made other such illegal immigration clearances in the past," said the officer.
