A day after Dadar police arrested four people in connection with the death of renowned gastroenterologist Dr Deepak Amrapurkar for allegedly opening the lid of a manhole at SB road in Elphinstone Road, a police constable who had seen the quartet opening the lid of the manhole identified the accused during a Test Identification Parade (TIP) at Arthur Road jail on Monday.

A constable from NM Joshi Marg police station had seen Siddhesh Bhelsekar, Dinar Pawar, Rakesh and his brother, Nilesh Kadam, opening lids of three manholes at SB Road on August 29. On Monday, the accused were granted bail by the court. 

According to police, it was difficult to identify the accused as there was no CCTV at the spot where Amrapurkar died. However, a CCTV footage collected from a close-by lane gave the clues. In the footage, several people have seen opening lids of the manholes in the area.
