The only operational Metro line in the city is often hashtagged for failing to cool its commuters enough. This week, which recorded the year's hottest day so far at 40.3 degres\es Celsius, Tweeple who take the Versova-Ghatkopar Metro have again been complaining that the air-conditioning isn't working, after past warnings that people "will start fainting soon in the unventilated train".

But rail operator MMOPL said the AC is never turned off when the train is running, since it is am entirely closed system. While it offered an alternative explanation — frequent opening of doors is why the AC may seem deficient — there was no solution on offer.

One user, @sresth, tweeted: "@MumMetro what is up with the ACs? It's getting hotter and it's getting worse than the railways...!"

MMOPL said it regretted the inconvenience, but "air-conditioning is on all the time... Due to frequent opening of doors the AC may, momentarily, seem to be deficient especially at starting points where doors are open for a longer duration..."

@amaryofficial, one of the 4 lakh people who take the Metro daily, said: "AC on karna bhool gaye kyaa?"

Another, @sachivachi1828, asked MMOPL to put up the temperature on display.
