MUMBAI: Was it six, seven or perhaps even eight?

Two hours after a series of high intensity blasts rocked the Western suburban train services on Tuesday evening, confusion prevailed over the number of blasts, with officials giving out varying figures.

While Mumbai Police Commissioner AN Roy put the figure at seven, state Director General of Police PS Pasricha said he had knowledge of six blasts.

Railway control room sources said they too had knowledge of six blasts, but city police control sources said it was seven blasts, which resulted in the death of more than 100 persons.

A television channel put the blasts' number at eight, but this was not confirmed by any authority.
