Our association coordinated with the ward for road widening; this in order to make way for utility and emergency vehicles like the fire brigade, ambulance, etc. With the help of the ward, we ensured that the roads and footpaths were fixed. Even while the major road repair was going on in our lane, the ward was constantly in touch with us. Paving the roads post repair, fixing up the footpaths; all of this was done with the assistance of the ward. The new drainage pipes that were installed helped prevent flooding, which is otherwise a pitiable monsoon affair.

The sweepers and cleaners from the ward are doing a good job, and we coordinate with them on a regular basis. They help keep the neighbourhood tidy. However, there are others who don’t keep the streets clean. These are mostly people who pass by our lanes as it is a shortcut between Colaba and Cuffe Parade. We have been trying to spread the word about waste segregation in all the buildings as this is undoubtedly the need of the hour, and we've been successful on a large scale. There are still a number of residents who have not participated in segregating waste. We do feel that more and more people should take part in this, and adopt waste sorting on a daily basis.

We are trying to get haphazard car parking, which poses a major problem for the residents, regulated. We don’t mind paying for the parking on the roads. However, exclusive parking slots for the residents is a necessity, and we need a solution for the same. For this, we will need to work hand-in-hand. Every now and then, when the ward asks us for suggestions, we willingly give them the same. This works better for both the ward as well as the residents.
